when the xbone was announced Microsoft had patents regarding RFID tags that were linked to the account. functionally making them disposable once placed into the console, this is what triggered the "if you want to play offline. get a 360" quote from a decade prior. they eventually walked it back. but they did want to dispose of used games using it.
