In the late 80s ‘concern’ about childhood obesity caused complaints about fast food advertisements directed at children. Happy Meals if ordered without modifications contained more calories than was recommended for a meal for a child under 12. This is why Wendy’s McDonalds and other have “apple slices” — if you replace the fries in a kids meal with apples the meal comes just under the limit. The funny thing is *i love fast food apple slices* they are my guilty pleasure. 1/
