It would actually make a lot of sense as an instant messaging protocol, it probably could be usefully decentralized at scale if that's what it was doing (though SimpleX is already basically using the same hosting structure and it doesn't have the same key management problem, so I don't think there would be any point) but it's not going to work as a Twitter clone at scale, which is what everyone seems to want it to be.
