The only thing in defense of this is that it was stated at the start of S04E01 that there was a new super-powerful type of drive.
Also I find it weird that the rockets are mounted on a pillar. It seems inherently unstable and in the story it was unstable. Why not mount the rockets directly on the asteroid. (Like in Wandering Earth, but I hated that movie.)
