The noise was cause for concern. We were on the interstate in a car we just got back from the shop when the whirring began to drown out the speakers. My ride’s a 2011, so any number of mechanical failures were imminent. In and out, the sound crescendoed
and decrescendoed as we zoomed along I-70. It wasn’t until we pulled off at an exit that I had the chance to investigate. It wasn’t the car. It was the insects.
