I think a lot of the people that are big on it have seen Apple's m1 MacBooks and think that can replace desktop processors because it can do things acceptably. And you know, for general people it may be just fine but when you have specific use case scenarios or power users it isn't fine.

I know I've tried using mobile/low power chipsets for tons of stuff and while they were capable of doing almost everything they just didn't match up to desktop chips at all. If I'm editing images i dont want tons of lag or freezing, same for video or anything else really. I also dont want to wait around forever for the process to be done on a mobile chipset when i coukd use all of my cores on my more powerful desktop and just get it done faster.

Ultimately, from what I've seen, the people fine with mobile chipsets tend to be a bunch of normal users who dont do much aside from browsing, video watching, and the occasional light photo or video editing.
