51000miles @ 125 mpge / gallon ==> ~$1,632 of gasoline
vs old RAV4:
51000miles @ 15mpg / gallon ==> ~$14,000 of gasoline
My old 1997 RAV4 was averaging 15mpg when I sold it
Cost savings over 6 years is about $10,000. We get a rebate on electricity too while we have the PHEV. Add to that being in a newer home the end-result is our power bill is the same as what it was before we bought the car. So no net increase in electric costs!
