Did I expect to send out my very first NY state rare bird alert this morning? No, that was not in my plans for the day. My heart is beating so fast right now. I never expected I would see a Black-bellied Whistling Duck in the wild. It is one of the ducks I've always wanted to see. And see one I did in Van Cortlandt Park in the Bronx, NY. I wish I didn't have to work today so I could watch the mob of birders flock to see this duck.
