One interesting thing I have observed are centrists insisting that Kamala Harris prove her moderation by adopting a hard-line against gender affirming care. In these arguments, however, they can never provide any actual evidence that voters want a hard-line or that this is a salient issue for anyone other a small cadre of elite commentators. In fact, the electoral evidence is that any focus on this beyond “we should not discriminate” is a political loser.
