Ten years ago I was interviews by a reporter for the English edition of a Chinese newspaper about Chinese palace dramas in the West. (As always, it's a long story.)

I just checked, and the link is dead, alas.

My main point was that royal court schemes & machinations are incredibly relatable across cultures & relevant to modern life -- which the interviewer found surprising.

Anyway, I can't imagine what made me think of that this week of all weeks.
