The f-15 is very overbuilt for current standars, for it's day however it was just tough, the one thing that was overbuilt by every standar back then was the mig 31, as the mig 25 crews were used to removing ice from the planes with sledgehammers, the mikoyan-gurevich designers knew it was easier to buil the wings of the 31 to take a daily hammering without getting bent than it was to stop the crews from remote ill equipped airbases from hitting the damned thing with hammers...
