I read that an animated film titled "Flow," about "a cat, dog, capybara, secretarybird, & ring-tailed lemur, in an apparently post-human world, trying to survive as the water level dramatically rises around them," just won an Academy Award for Best Animated Feature. The film holds a 97% fresh rating at Rotten Tomatoes. The animation was done using the free and open-source software Blender. And the film creators publicly thanked the Blender project at tonight's Academy Awards--go FOSS!
