For anyone who is considering a switch to ZEUS (npub1xnf…lpr5) and reached the point where they start calculating costs. Allow me to share some perspective.
I personally used to think the same. I remember going through this process and I was like damn that’s a lot of sats. But I was looking at this completely wrong. I also had my node already operational, but not important.
What you get from the Zeus app, is almost comparable to running your own full Lightning node setup.
So after you consider the capital cost of hardware, a computer/raspi + an SSD + a UPS because your node will fail.
Then you add the operational cost, from channel opening and committing your own sats for liquidity, maintenance, and collaboration with peers to keep things operational.
And finally, all the random risks of force closures, hardware failure and all.
You will come to the conclusion that Zeus is basically free. The ability to have all this headache managed for you is actually priceless.
I personally have no stake in Zeus not in anyway other than I think it’s an amazing app and I’m glad that the developer is among us (that’s also priceless).
I am just a curious pleb who decided to run a node. And if I knew what I know now before creating my full setup I would probably have taken the Zeus route.
Thank you for all you have done Zeus.
