I’m curious. As a retired person, the debate about remote work seems to be:
Con: the synergy of the office! (which is real). Implicitly: “we like the old way.”
Pro: “I am happier working from home.” Also, you can hire from all nearby timezones.
To be blunt: the people with power like the old way, and they don’t give a damn about your happiness. The marginal ability to hire better people is a weak counter; it asks managers to believe individual excellence outweighs what they themselves do.
