Yesterday, a cousin who I haven't spoken to since 1986 ("N--"), sent me a WhatsApp* message with this photo.
They were looking through her mom's albums and found so many photos with me on them and she thought, she'd send one to me.
This photo was taken in 1974 (I am assuming) when I was briefly in Berlin (West), visiting my father and my stepmother. The people on the photo are (from left): someone I don't know, two babies I don't know, my aunt (N--'s mom), and N--'s siblings, one of which was an amazing guy who taught me a lot about critical thinking, reasoning and more when I was still around seven or eight years old.
The one on the bottom right holding a pot of flowers (why?) is me. Yes, my real self, it is in there, I can see it. And you know what? I love that kid there, that child, that beautiful, beautiful person. They don't know yet, but they grew up to be a nice person, never losing the niceness they show on this photo (hopefully).

*: Last year, when my father died, my other cousin, who is like my brother, asked me whether he is allowed to give my mobile number to N-- because she and her siblings would like to re-connect with me. I said "yes, no worries", and now, nearly 18 months later, N-- sent me a message.
