Matthew 5:48:
“Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect.”
Jesus is basically saying, “Strive to be as complete and whole in love as God is.” He’s not expecting perfection in the way we usually think of it, like never making mistakes. Instead, He’s calling us to grow in love, maturity, and kindness (greek translation for perfection, as the bible was written on)—treating others with the same grace and mercy that God shows. It’s about aiming to reflect God’s character in how we live, being like God himself.
Which I just feel is great inspiration to live and strive for, keeping it real. 🙂
