Power for the regime is not a lefty thing. Abortion is a lefty thing. Taxes on the rich is a lefty thing. LGBTQ rights are a lefty thing. Environmental protection is a lefty thing. More power for labor is left. Lots of other things are more complicated today imo.
I don't think we can look at either party to know what's left or right. Dems are pro war while lots of lefties are not. GOP has both religious culture folks and libertarians. Regime is corporate maybe.
