Is there a term for discouraging someone by bringing up an issue that you don't actually understand?
Recent examples I've heard are suggesting that people shouldn't go to Iceland because there is a volcano, or that people shouldn't do home pickling because of botulism.
"Concern trolling" came to mind, but the definitions of it online generally suggest intent.
