A reason I'm not a fan of working long hours is that, realistically, you're not going to be able to get more than a factor of 2 by increasing hours and you likely won't even get a factor of 2, whereas, per
https://danluu.com/productivity-velocity/, there's generally more than a factor 2 available on working more efficiently, and basically an effectively unbounded amount of potential benefit from picking better problems to work on, etc.
But we should have the right reasons for not working long hours!
