So I found this hardware store in my town. And when I said "found", I had to ask a tradie nearly on a deathbed, about the forbidden knowledge. It's got a weird name. Like Abraxas emporium. It's the size of a coffee kiosk, the sales area anyway.
There are about 10 staff there. Most on the computers, stabilising some sort of dimensional rift that keeps the place operating...

... anyway, I was schooled by a 55+yo Amazon Dragonlady that eats tradies for breakfast whole, about the difference between Screws and Bolts.
I went there to get some imperial fasteners. Because contrary to what Sepos think, outside of their three ringed circus nation, imperial fasteners are hard to come by.

I asked about these BOLTS...she disappears into the alternate dimension where the Warehouse must be, then emerges a while later with TWO boxes.
And then she informs me...
I got a box of what you asked for, and a box of what you actually need. 😑

And that's how I learned that a bolt has a section near the head that does not have the thread on the shaft.

We lost that kind of sass expertise with the mass chain hardware stores.
