And you know what? Once the nightmare of configuration is over, the day-to-day user experience still holds up. It’s certainly better than that of Windows 3.1, though admittedly, that’s a low bar to clear.

With a little bit of love (okay, maybe a lot of love), CDE could be a great contemporary DE. It’s quick, responsive, easy to navigate, and a welcome break from today’s too-minimalist flat design.

At any rate, I’m enjoying my time in it, and will likely spend more.
