Labor's targetting of social media, and the arguments they make to justify it, feels like groping around to do the right thing for the wrong reasons.

If they started looking at the massive privacy invasions, deliberate use of algorithms to foster outrage and hate, and the team ups with the advertising industry to manipulate, pressure and deceive they could actually be doing something worthwhile - like some kind of powered up version of Europe's GDPR.

Instead it's 'ban teh kids.'
