Okay so, I have a few things on my desk that are USB powered, and I'm switching out the power supply.
Two of them are my statues with lights, and another is a powered USB hub.
As I'm plugging things into the new power supply, *which is not plugged into mains*, something interesting happened.
I plugged the USB hub/switch into the power supply, and then all of the other things lit up.
Which would mean that these ports are just sharing a 5v rail, *and* the hub/switch just bonds the 5v input to the 5v from the PC(s) it's connected to.
