I don't know why people say Chrono Trigger is the best best timeless masterpiece of a game there is.

When I played it, I thought it was a fantastic game, but the best game there is? I can think of a few modern JRPGs I enjoyed more.

Maybe I should read a few reviews to get a better perspective.
