The link is whatever appears in the href attribute of the HTML tag. That's why I was confused; your definition of "the link" as something different from the unmodified contents of the href attribute was throwing me off.

I fully agree that it'd be great if copying the URL without tracking information were the default/easiest option and users had to jump through extra hoops to copy the unmodified URL that includes tracking info. It's just that I'm a little uncomfortable with that action being labeled in a way that suggests it's copying the unmodified URL, such as the wording "Copy Link". I dunno, maybe it's worth the tradeoff, but I'll never be convinced that it's not at least somewhat inaccurate. (Plus I could see myself being very confused by that behavior in practice.)
