The problem that I have is the assumption that Bitcoin becomes base layer by just competing with the heavily entrenched system. We love to talk incentives in the Bitcoin space and for every one we have, the existing system has multiple.

Revolutions are usually bloody. So to get from Point A to Point B, there has to be significant pain somewhere. Someone's head has to go in the proverbial guillotine. Or maybe a better analogy is the current system is like a hydra and you've got to find a way to lop off the majority of those tentacles to level the playing field.

That's why I asked if someone had an idea how it could be done without having to blow the current system up. I don't think it can be.
