I really don't get the love for #Discord. I don't want to have to spend all day hanging out in a chat room. I didn't even want to as a teenager (#Discord is basically #IRC).

Sure, it's technically asynchronous but only barely. To be part of any community is a major, immediate time sink.

I feel so isolated compared to the old days. I liked the threaded nature of #forums and the on-demand rather than live nature of the interactions.

Hop on during lunch, reply to stuff, come back later, etc..
