Cornelius (npub16gk…9ydd) Jack's personality faults (alcoholism, not being master of himself) left him susceptible to demonic possession. So he became possessed, and wasn't redeemed in death, as evidenced by his apperance in the old photograph.
That's my interpretation, anyway. Some people think it's equally valid to say that it was Jack's karma to go to the hotel and try to murder his own family, and thus that he would have *always* been in the photo, if they'd happened to notice.
