#9 Weezer – Weezer (The Blue Album)
Released just after my high school graduation, I picked this one up after I got out of basic training and AIT (Advanced Individual Training), #USAF #AirForce, about eight months later. This album has some great, well written songs, that speak to most of the things I felt as a teen. “The World Has Turned and Left Me Here”, “In the Garage”, and “Only in Dreams” are probably the three tracks I felt related to the most. Every other track, though, was equally fantastic. The official releases off this album, “Buddy Holly”, “Say It Ain’t So”, and “Undone – The Sweater Song” lost there punch over time as they were all over radio and MTV, but they hold up.
The Blue Album actually softened my musical tastes as at the time I had been going from grunge into harder and faster metal. The Blue Album reigned me in a bit leading me into some of the more quirky ‘Alternaitve’ music out there at the time.
