If anyone wants to really make a difference, they must disabuse themselves of the belief that hearing and understanding is the same thing as tolerance. They must recognize that people like Trump thrive in atmospheres of anger and misunderstanding. They must learn not to make absolutist conclusions about the people they disagree with.
If instead all they want to do is shout and be angry, keep doing what you're doing, I guess.
