Perhaps, but it is yet another marketing stunt. They force you to make an account just to use a phone you already paid for. Account that is tied to all the apps you use, your settings, location, mobile carrier, etc. They even auto-opted everyone into getting their photos analyzed by AI for landmarks recently.
