It's surprisingly difficult to write about sensitive, unpleasant topics--including ones I've written about many times before!—when it's not just one, but all of,
1) in fiction,
2) from a second person perspective,
3) for an audience I don't really know,
4) ...who are going to be /assigned/ this as class reading.
"Don't like, don't read" doesn't really apply at that point, y'know?
At least I included a click-through for content warnings. I'd feel a lot queasier about this otherwise.
