Somehow found some ancient fly line, leader, and backing and one of those "spinning and fly rod" things around here. What gremlin brought that around I'll never know. Already had a fly reel that was given to me when I was 15; it was on an ice fishing pole. So cobbled a fly rod together to at least practice casting.
It's easier than it looks and quite fun. The leader got hopelessly tangled (probably because of the lack of a fly on the end) so cut it off. Things got somewhat harder then.
