They're great for multi-sig as one key in a quorum. Not sure I would use it for single-sig, though.
It's used for signing on-chain transactions via NFC before they are broadcast out to the network to wait to be included in a block.
If you want something you can tap to pay with Lightning, you want a Bolt Card.
