Today on #Debian: you can have Etc/UTC as system-wide timezone but not UTC.
Okay, sure, you can overwrite /etc/localtime and /etc/timezone, but the next tzdata update breaks that because it uses debconf as a database.
Adding TZ=UTC to GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT in /etc/default/grub (as recommended anyway) mostly works around this, ofc.
