Honestly I think Reddit alternatives are going to scale a lot better in the Fediverse than stuff like Mastodon.

The hard part of moderating Mastodon rn is you are dealing with a fucking firehose of information and expected to moderate it all, with no federated moderation.

Reddit alternatives like Lemmy solve that partially by splitting that up into manageable chunks and assigning moderators to each.
