For those who use #rsync —delete -auv for #linux #backups of certain important working directories, which is a fine idea overall, let me share some hard-won advice. Stick the -ni options in there first and look carefully at what it says it’s going to do. Then and only then you can take out the -ni and let ‘er rip.
Think of it as being the first two letters of “nice.” Which is not how you’d feel seeing your computer eat your stuff if you got the directories in the wrong order or something.
