I agree but also want to add - pain is an immediate misalignment between systems, while harmony is an intimate coupling/alignment. Sometimes you absolutely need to go through the abyss instead of around. Yes it can lead to tragedy, but you do so because staying or comforting yourself where you are is a net loss compared to what's beyond the abyss.
