Yea, but it's just an optional telemetry - some mainstream distros (like Ubuntu) have had it for years. I've had a machine running a variant of Ubuntu (tuxedo OS) for a while & have portmaster running in the background (from Sapian π) and have opted out - there's *nothing* being transmitted.
