The idea that you can not have scarce resources is (unfortunately) theological nonsense; we live in a system under selection and there will always be resource constraints.
I think most of the problem with the usual analysis is that it focuses on allocation of surplus, particularly control of surplus, while what it's calling surplus is destruction of capital in the Carbon Binge.
