70% of your oil requirements come from Canada. Canada sends you the crude oil and you refine it. Selling it to your citizens and shipping abroad. Even back to Canada. Your refineries only accept a specific type of crude oil as well, so you can only source oil from Canada or Venezuela. At the current, now former, trade deals. Canada sold you crude oil at 20%-30% cheaper / barrel than market value.
Unfortunately the US is not energy independent and relies heavily on Canada for Oil and Hydro. So expect to pay higher prices on Gas and Electricity.
