For me the most important questions are:
- Will this become a huge maintenance burden? (e.g. does it introduce new dependencies?)
- Will it be useful to more than just the author?
- Does it work? Is there a demo of it deployed?
- And does it align with the general direction of the project?

And otherwise, just get towards deprecation management. If things break and no one steps up, be prepared to deprecate and drop features :)
