I’ve had some heart issues pop up recently, atrial fibrillation. Very irregular and only two episodes. I will eventually need an operation but I was told to let the blood service know, as I’m a regular blood donor. The doctor said I would be fine to give blood, but they will have their own rules and protocols. I phoned them and now I’ve been told I’m not allowed to give blood anymore, which is a real gut punch.

Really disappointed with how the blood service handled it. Bearing in mind I’ve done this for years and given over 30 pints of blood, it was just a straight up “you can’t do it anymore, bye” and then they immediately closed my online account without saying anything
