omg i just remembered that i have that gift card that i found in my emails from forever ago! so i just went and ordered a new SSD! for 15 €?! and also some meds because i need them. and as soon as that SSD arrives i can move my system back on that.

i will only have to figure out how to install a bootloader without any installer tool doing that automatically for me, because i will only be moving my system to a different drive, not reinstalling all that. i have not done that manually in like 12 years. since before EFI was a thing
