That was a very interesting read.
At the right time for my sometimes appearing romantically politically mood.
Back then, the world was in order, social democracy or liberal democracy, anarchy and punk - somehow everything existed in parallel, made sense.
Today I see knowledge as the absolute most valuable asset for positioning yourself and defending yourself against manipulation and floods of BS.
It’s difficult, especially here in Germany with its traumatic history that has not been dealt with for decades.
This country has never been so bad, not financially, but mentally. A well-known conflict of Aristotle’s Zoon politikon: The need to move in society arises from human nature to act meaningfully. Over time, Aristotle's ergon argument (the specific essential function of a thing) was refuted: the fact that humans are rational beings does not necessarily imply acting rationally. Every great human achievement is exploited by (smaller groups of) humans and seems to be directed against us humans. Sickening.
German politicians have capitulated. Everything is lacking, from personal attitudes to expertise in dealing with the global political situation. There’s not one day my friends and fam discuss the American craziness but here it is the same, dressed in some other clown shoes. Anyways, for me, on the one hand, these are times in which reflection and self-reflection are enormously important (and some despair is completely legitimate. )And on the other hand, it is a time that enables for new ideas and actions. This includes, above all, acquiring knowledge about our history. That is why I value your text so much, thank you.
