Communal libraries where there is no public funding from the government or librarians per se, but just books donated by the community you live in is going to be the future. Kept in somebody’s barn on their property or something.
As a reader, I was a supporter of public libraries. No more. As a profession, it is the librarians who have been at the forefront of drag queen story hour and sexually explicit books in the teen section. At this point, I'd favor closing community libraries. The reference library can stay. Otherwise, investment in in online library apps like Libby with carefully a curated collection is the future.
