does the book have others help or is it centred on more self directed tasks? The TV show had the hosts help. It would be nice irl if others would help, because the premise is basically, don't leave crap behind for others to deal with, and you can't take it with you!! Western peeps generally recoil from anything to do with death or downsizing because it signals issues they don't want to face. Clearly, death is one of them, but I speculate a loss of items means no longer signs of success.
