They look a bit like our greengages although yours have a bit more red blush. The allotment greengages are very productive but the trees run out of control.
We've also got a Victoria Plum tree in the garden which produces delicious red plums, but not many.
We've never had problems with squirrels (although there's plenty of the greengages to share!)
