Comet C/2023 A3 over Donner Lake in the Sierra this morning. 90mm, f/2.8, 0.8", ISO800. Sadly, my longer lenses are f/4s. Image is cropped in & I used some masking in Darktable to bring out the comet & its tail, which, enlarged on my desktop, extends nearly to the top of frame! I was unable to see it with my unaided eye. Better images show an anti-tail has developed. A3 will be much closer to Earth at 0.472 AU on Oct. 12. I expect it to be bigger & brighter! nostr:npub1huv80fcn7s3uc6calv5wnkt9f48nah38vg9qlkctm07ul24jz6zqqchxlv #AstroPhotography #Comet

https://cdn.fosstodon.org/media_attachments/files/113/222/986/635/841/212/original/28e1b48f65be66bf.jpg",
