Tech questions; boost if you would.
I'm helping a teenager build their computer. They found themselves someone's old gaming rig second-hand. It had all the parts, but didn't boot. So they asked me. But some of my knowledge is a bit out of date.
I found that one of the pins on the PGA was bent (and wouldn't bend back). I am led to believe that you can't solder your way out of that any more, so it means the mobo is a write-off? Next step, then, is either sourcing another, or finding another machine entirely, depending on price. But the processor, memory, heat sink, PSU, and case are all perfectly serviceable.
Can I just find any mobo that needs the same CPU, memory, etc? Or is there more to it?
